Kevin Smyrl brings nearly 25 years of fundraising experience at various organizations, including local grassroots non-profit organizations, professional athlete-based foundations, and higher education institutions. Kevin has experience in principal and major gift fundraising, board development, volunteer management, campaign management and execution, alumni relations, annual fund, and constituent engagement. He has served in roles ranging from the executive director of grassroots organizations and athlete-based foundations to vice president of development in higher education.
Kevin has spent the majority of his career in higher education. Beginning in 2006 as the Director of Development at Oxford College of Emory University, he was promoted in 2007 to the Assistant Dean/Chief Development Officer and served in this role until 2012. Kevin then served as Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, where he managed the successful “Our Time” campaign. Kevin returned to Oxford College in 2014. As Associate Dean and Chief Development Officer, he presided over the most successful fundraising years in the college’s history, including multiple record-breaking years. Also, during Kevin’s tenure Oxford College of Emory University received the largest philanthropic gifts in the college’s history from foundations and individual donors.
A native of Atlanta, Kevin received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University. He volunteers his time at his parish, St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, where he serves on the finance council and advises in parish fundraising efforts. Also, he formerly served as a member of the International Laity Committee for the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette. Kevin and his wife Lisa have two teenage children; Philip and Katherine and live in Madison, Georgia.
When not at work, Kevin spends time with his family enjoying a variety of outdoor activities, especially fishing and water sports. Kevin is also an avid golfer and has a passion for outdoor grilling.
