Regular town board meeting held on February 9th, 2016 at the town hall meeting room. Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town: post office, hardware store and the town hall window box.
Present were Chairman Paul Ehlinger, Supervisors Nancy Schuhart & Jim Smith, Treasurer Chris Geske and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.
People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jim made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Nancy seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Brenda read the minutes of the January 12, 2016 town board meeting. Nancy made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Paul seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Ralph McHugh commented on the nice sliding hill on the north side of town.
Lynn LaRock resubmitted the Rustic Roads application.
Chris Geske presented the board with election information.
Letters & Permits/Licenses
The town will be asking Townsend for money or equipment from the 1033 program that belongs to Wabeno. Nancy made a motion to send a letter and official list to the Town of Townsend’s town board. Jim seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. The motion carried.
The Library Park will be reserved for the Life Fair 2016 on Saturday, August 20th.
Brenda presented the board with a stumpage invoice from Al Murray for the dump sale.
There was a discussion on the maintenance agreement for the fire departments radio repeaters.
The town board signed the Fire Contract for the town of Freedom.
Discussion was had on a Class B liquor license for Kelly Grutzik at the Wabeno Bait and Beverage.
Kathy McHugh discussed the new area being used for the Country Market this summer. It will be next to the town hall in the school’s baseball area. She also requested the use of the town hall for rain days when the hall is not rented.
There was a discussion on the Trump Lake project. Meetings will be taken place and more information will follow.
There was an update on the parking & storage of recreational vehicles, motor homes and camper trailers.
Paul gave an update on the Cavour Street Bridge. John Simonson from the DNR is looking into the project.
Discussion was had on the 3 fire extinguisher companies that service the buildings throughout town.
The town board will be meeting with Mary Beck on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1:30pm to discuss grant opportunities.
Clean Up days are set for May 21st & 22nd and September 10 & 11th, 2016.
There was an update on the Boardwalk and wetlands and also discussed painting the military truck.
The next town board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 at 6pm.
Paul made a motion to go into closed session under Sec. 19.85(1)(c) to discuss raises and sick leave. Paul yes, Jim yes, Nancy Yes. Motion carried.
