Regular town board meeting held on May 6th, 2014, at the town meeting room.  Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town: Post Office, Wabeno Hardware and the Town Hall Window Box.

Present were Chairman Edward Piontek, Supervisors Paul Ehlinger & Tom Tallier, Treasurer Cheryl Ehlinger and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.

Ed called the meeting to order at 7pm.

People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tom made a motion to approve the agenda as presented.  Paul seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Brenda read the minutes of the April 15th, 2014 meeting.  Paul made a motion to approve the minutes as read with a correction on the date.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Public Comments:

Joan Schertz talked about getting a Country Market in the town.  More information will be presented at the next meeting.

Biz McEwen expressed concerns about the potential flower pots that will be on sidewalks.

Sharon Stefanski presented a support petition for Officer Mick Ashbeck. 

Letters:

Kristie Gill of FCCLA is requesting to have a brat fry and bake sale at the Wabeno Recycling center.  Tom made a motion to accept that request.  Ed seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

There will be no electronics recycling this year.

Garbage Contract tabled.

More information needed on band shell railing.

Tom made a motion to use donated funds for the Memorial Day entertainment.  Paul seconded the motion the motion carried.

Discussion held on joining the park and fighters grounds boards.  Topics included:  cleaning, mowing & supplies.  Ed made a motion to join the park and firefighters grounds boards effective 7/1/2014. 

The survey is complete on land.  Tom will be working on realtor options.

Discussion was held on the EPA and Potawatomi water rights.  The town is working on a letter expressing concerns.

Paul made a motion to expand the Wabeno Library Board from a 5 member board to 7 members and to hold 4 year terms instead of 3.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Paul made a motion to add Carol Bartlein and Tim Friesen to the Library Board and to extend the terms for Diane Spaude and Kathy Stauffer as Library Board members.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Discussion was held on street lights.  Possible options are tree trimming.  This will be looked into further on the upcoming road tour.

Radios in town equipment – tabled

Josh Jameson, Community Developer, gave an update on grants, clean up days and recent conference.

Ed made a motion to proceed with the finalization for the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Grant.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Ed made a motion to approve the Mission Statement as presented.  Paul seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Ed announced the hiring of new Municipal Judge David Hinkens. 

Tom made a motion to sign the compensation agreement for the Municipal Judge.  Paul seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Paul made a motion to take out a bond on the Municipal Judge for $5,000 .  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Next meeting date will be held on May 20th, 2014 at 7 pm.
