Regular town board meeting held on August 26, 2014 at the Wabeno Town Hall Meeting Room.  Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town:  Post Office, Wabeno Hardware & the Town Hall Window Box.

Present were Chairman Edward Piontek, Supervisors Paul Ehlinger & Tom Tallier, and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.

Ed called the meeting to order at 7pm.

People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tom made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Paul seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Brenda read the minutes of the July 22nd and July 29th meetings.  Paul made a motion to approve the minutes as read.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Public Comments:

Ralph McHugh talked about the spring house and his interest in preserving it as a historical site.

Steve Ashbeck asked questions about employment hiring. 

Raletta Ashbeck asked about hiring ordinances and personnel rules.

John & Donna Stefanski asked for copies of a letter given to a town board member from the District Attorney and expressed concern about a pending case for a juvenile.

Sharon Stefanski expressed concerns with police matters.

Paul made a motion to accept Operators Licenses for Leigha Lynn Mackin and Alisa Jean Piontek of Pichotta’s Pub & Grub and to accept a Temporary Class B Retailer’s license to the Wabeno Chamber of Commerce for a Fall Fest at the Wabeno Band Shell Area on September 27, 2014.  Tom seconded the motion. 

The Spring House was discussed.  Scott Schuhart presented the board with a letter that was read publically by Brenda.  This letter was from Mark D. Pauli, P.G.  This letter identifies the spring box as a threat to the public water system particularly well #1.  Tom made a motion to accept this letter to be kept on file.  Ed seconded the motion.  The motion carried.

Andy Brooks will be working on a temporary fix to the School House roof.

Sidewalk ordinance tabled.

The Dual Sports letter was discussed.  The town will work on getting things ready for their next event. 

The Trump Lake pavilion roof was discussed.  The town board will try to have this done in the fall.

Paul made a motion to raise the 2 part time employee wages by 2%.  Tom seconded the motion.  The motion carried. 

Jim Langdon finished the electrical work at the Recycling Center.  We are waiting for WPS to come and finish before we get the compactors running.

Police Department policies and procedures – tabled

Josh Jameson, Exec. Administrative Liaison for the FC Economic Dev. gave an update of work for the town of Wabeno.  The town received a $37,000 technology USDA grant.  Some benefits of this will be wifi for the library, a new laptop for the museum, connectivity at the town hall.  The bidding process will begin shortly.  On Sept. 25th, 2014 Josh will be speaking at the Wisconsin Towns Ass. meeting here at the town hall.  The topic will be about revitalization in communities and working together.  Electronics pick up is still being worked on. 

The wayside property was closed on last Friday. 

Supervisor positions for departments tabled.

Future items from the town board:  Cheri Collins would like to be on the Sept. 23rd agenda to discuss the ORV Park and the interest or non interest in it. 

September 9th and September 23 are the dates for the next meetings. 

Cheryl presented the board with the financial statement. 

Checks were 3573 to 3657 with a void of 3616.

Paul made a motion to adjourn.  Ed seconded the motion.  The motion carried.
