Regular town board meeting held on July 22nd, 2014 at the Wabeno Town Hall Meeting Room. Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town: Post Office, Wabeno Hardware & the Town Hall Window Box.
Present were Chairman Edward Piontek, Supervisors Paul Ehlinger & Tom Tallier, and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.

Ed called the meeting to order at 7pm.
People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Tom made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Paul seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Brenda read the minutes of the July 8th, 2014 meeting. Paul made a motion to approve the minutes as read. Tom seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Ralph McHugh would like to see the Old Depot restored as a historical site.
Ken Bowe expressed concerns about the Fire Fighters Grounds and Dual Sports.
Tom presented a letter from the Nicolet Chequamegon Forest Service. The Forest Service regional office will be doing a review on the Nicolet Chequamegon forest to see how the forest is doing overall concerning the Forest Service mission. Tom is planning on attending a meeting August 18th in Rhinelander.
Brenda presented an application for a temporary liquor license for the Trump Lake Protective Association for August 16, 2014. Ed made a motion to accept the application for a license. Paul seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Scott Schuhart presented the board with minutes from the Sanitary Board Meetings from 1983, 1984 & 1985. According to the minutes presented the Spring House was owned by the Badger Northern Rail Road Company and was later turned over to the state. This information will be put on file.
The school house roof was discussed. Job Corp is willing to put Cedar Shingles on the roof next year. Paul will be talking with someone who may be willing to do a temporary fix.
Dana Pichotta will be expanding her duties on cleaning Wabeno facilities.
Ed & Mary Beck attended a meeting with the Resource Advisory Committee concerning the Badger Trail project. The Badger Trails Organization was OK’d for $10,500 for an 18 mile loop. The miles may be adjusted one way or another in the future. The Wabeno area came out extremely well for RAC Committee projects with approximately $45,000 for projects.
Pavilion roof is tabled till more information is available.
The town board will be meeting in closed session with part time employees on August 12th, 2014 at 6pm for evaluation. (this date will be adjusted or removed because of an election happening at the town hall this day)
The trash compactor is set in place. Forest County gave $6000 towards the electrical. Jim Langdon has the equipment ordered.
Josh Jameson, Community Director, gave an update on grant work. The grant monies that have come in will be deposited in the town’s account. Brenda will earmark each deposit for what it is intended for. Concerning the boardwalk project, Mary Beck will be the only person to submit bills to the clerk. Also discussed was his new job as Interim Economic Development Director for Forest County. The town board has given permission to the Friends of Wabeno to place a sandwich board that tells the days and times for the Friend’s of Wabeno meetings on the town hall property. The Willow trees along the Oconto River were discussed and Scott Shaffer and Paul will be working on this project as time allows. The trail work beginning on August 4th was discussed. Job Corp will be working on this along with Scott Shaffer.
Tom updated on the land that is for sale. The town of Wabeno has an offer pending on a parcel of land.
The August town board meetings will be held on Tuesday, August 12th (this date will be adjusted or removed because of an election happening at the town hall this day) and Tuesday, August 26 at 7pm.
Ed had received the financial statement from Cheryl. Brenda presented checks 3535 to 3572.
