Regular town board meeting held on May 19th, 2015 at the town hall meeting room.  Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town: post office, hardware store and the town hall window box.

Present were Chairman Paul Ehlinger, Supervisors Nancy Schuhart and Jim Smith, Treasurer Chris Geske and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.

Paul called the meeting to order.

People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Nancy made a motion to accept the agenda as presented.  Jim seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Brenda read the minutes from the May 5, 2015 meeting.  Jim made a motion to accept the minutes as read.  Nancy seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Phil Shopodock spoke about the upcoming Forest County Potawatomi Gathering.  The Wabeno Board and the FCP’s will be working on an emergency management plan for the August 13-16 gathering.

Public Comments:

Rick Backhaus is on record stating that he believes the humane officer is still accountable for his dog being sick after given shots.

Mary Beck spoke about the boardwalk project.  Phase 1 should be completed within the month.  Phase 2 has received $90,000 in grants.  On June 29th the Americorp group will be here and starting work for 6 months.  On June 13 at 9am there will be a Volunteer Day. 

Letters:

Paul made a motion to extend Robert McEwen’s term on the Park Board.  Nancy seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Rural Mutual would like to write the Town’s workers compensation police for the upcoming year.  More information is needed. 

Brenda read a letter from Chief of Police Mick Ashbeck.   Mick’s lawyer, John Hogan, is requesting more time so he can be present at a meeting to discuss the issues regarding the Wabeno Police Department and Chief Mick Ashbeck.

Jason Novak wrote a letter of resignation from the Wabeno Police Department.  Nancy made a motion to accept the letter of resignation.   Jim seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Nancy made a motion to approve a resolution to abolish the Town of Wabeno Police Department.  Jim seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Jim made a motion to approve a resolution to abolish the Town of Wabeno Animal Humane Officer.  Nancy seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Nancy made a motion to retire the Wabeno K-9 dog.  Jim seconded the motion.  The motion carried.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Jim made a motion that it is no longer necessary to hold the previously adjourned April 30th, 2015 meeting.  Nancy seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

The lawn moving position will be posted in 3 places in town.  Applications will be accepted until June 2nd, 2015.

A motion was made by Jim to hire Harvey Vladik as an alternate dump attendant.  Nancy seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried. 

Brenda presented liquor applications and Operators’ licenses.  They are as follows:  Class A-Wabeno Bait & Beverage, Class B – R Place & Backhaus’ Sportmens Retreat.  Operator’s license:  Renee Gust, Joseph Jarvais, Cindy Bowman and Cynthia Tallier.   Nancy made a motion to accept these applications as presented.  Paul seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.

Chris presented the town board with financials for April.

Brenda will look into who is able to charge items at Pintsch’s Hardware.

The June meetings are set for Tuesday, June 2nd and June 16th, 2015.

Nancy made a motion to adjourn.  Jim seconded the motion.  3 yes, 0 no.  The motion carried.
