Regular town board meeting held on February 16th, 2017 at the town hall meeting room.  Notice was posted in 3 places in town: post office, hardware store and the town hall window box.

Present were Supervisors Jim Smith & Nancy Schuhart, Treasurer Chris Geske and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.  Absent, Chairman Paul Ehlinger.

Nancy called the meeting to order at 6pm.

Pledge of Allegiance.

Jim made a motion to accept the agenda as presented.  Nancy seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried.

Brenda read the minutes from the January 19th, 2017 meeting.  Jim made a motion to accept the minutes as read.  Nancy seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried.

Chris presented the board with the treasurer's report.

Public Comments

There have been complaints about garbage in bags left outside by Frans Pub.

The Board of Review is set to take place on May 8th, 2017 from 5 – 7 pm.

The board signed the Fire Protection Contract for the town of Freedom.

The Trump Lake Pavilion is complete.  Landscaping will be done this spring/summer.  Trump Lake Association may be doing this.

Laura MacFarland from Trout Unlimited & Matt Steinbach from FCPC, Natural Resources Dept., gave an update on the North Branch Oconto River Restoration project. The proposed actions and timeline is as follows:  2017 – Remove relic dam material between Hwy 32 and Co Hwy C from channel bed and excavate earthen embankments along floodplain to the extent practical.  2018 – Replace the Soper Street Bridge and Hwy C culvert with larger spanning structures and add large wood within the stream to reduce stream widths and improve instream habitat.

Discussion took place on the fire fighters park bathroom facilities. A 6-month extension was given.  Specs to be put together in the near future.

Connect Communities – Tabled

Jim made a motion to accept the Wabeno Town Planning Commission as presented.  (Lynn LaRock, Darlene Edelbeck, Tony Smith, Mike Richmond, Diane Ashbeck, Karen McEwen & Gregg Tallier) Nancy seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried. 

Discussion took place on Clean up dates for 2017.  Nancy made a motion to make May 20th & 21st and August 26th & 27th the Clean- Up days for 2017.  Jim seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried.

Jim made a motion to transfer left over monies from the 2016 insurance, street lights, contingency fund, fines, & licenses and permits to cover the over budget 2016 Fire Dept. and Roads budget.  Nancy seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried.

Nancy made a motion to send the remainder of the outstanding fines for the Municipal Court to the District Attorney.  Jim seconded the motion.  2 yes 0 no.  Motion carried. 

The next town board meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2017 at 6pm.
