Regular town board meeting held on January 12, 2016 at the town hall meeting room. Meeting notice was posted in 3 places in town: post office, hardware store and the town hall window box.
Present were Chairman Paul Ehlinger, Supervisors Nancy Schuhart & Jim Smith and Clerk Brenda St. Peter.
People present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Paul made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Nancy seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Brenda read the minutes of the December 15th, 2015 town board meeting. Nancy made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Jim seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Tom Tallier asked if the town has received any money from the Timber Sale. He also asked the town board if they would consider cutting the Camp Road Spring.
Scott Schuhart commented on the election board and if the treasurer gets paid for that.
Letters were received from the Bureau of Indian Affairs advising the town that the Forest County Potawatomi Community will be buying land and that it will be coming off the tax roll.
The Town board signed the Fire Protection Contract with the Forest County Potawatomi Community. Brenda will be sending it to the FC Potawatomi’s for signatures.
There was a discussion about the fee for parking and storage of recreational vehicles, motor homes and camper trailers. Jim will be contacting Pam LaBine from Forest County Zoning to discuss further. No action is taken at this time.
The town board signed the title application for the new plow truck. Brenda will check final figures for the cost of the truck.
Jim discussed the Trump Lake project. He is talking with an engineer for suggestions on the swamp. He will have more specifics on this by the end of the week.
Nancy made a motion to have Forest County Zoning pursue, under the nuisance ordinance, the issue of the Grand Plank Hotel. Jim seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the Municipal Dams Grant. The board has decided not to pursue the grant.
WHAM Fest will be held on August 6th, 2016.
WOW – Wabeno Open Water competition is hoping to become an event also held on August 6th, 2016. More details to follow.
Dual Sports is looking to rent a garage space in town.
Jim would like to make a plan for capital improvements on town owned buildings for future years.
The financial reports were presented. Checks are 4793 – 4845 with voids of 4806 and 4838.
The next town board meeting will be on Tuesday, February 9th , 2016 at 6pm.
Nancy made a motion to go into closed session under Sec. 19.85(1)(c) to discuss employment and compensation. Jim seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
Paul made a motion to return to open session. Nancy seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no.
The town board has hired Bob Lenz for part time work at $15 per hour until Bill Bessert returns to work.
Nancy made a motion to adjourn. Paul seconded the motion. 3 yes 0 no. Motion carried.
These minutes are not approved until the February 9th, 2016 town board meeting.
